Out of the mist comes brilliant clarity. Have you noticed that?

Out of the Mist

In nature when the mist clears, we often see a verdant landscape. The greens are more brilliant. In fact, all the colors are brighter. And we see every detail we couldn't see before.

When I have a decision to make and God gives me a miserable, foggy or rainy day, I use it to rejuvenate my soul and clear my brain, while I  subconsciously noodle new ideas. My mind slows and refuses to work. I feel sleepy or sometimes depressed.

What do I do on these days? And how does it help?

What I Do

I read a book, watch a movie, take a nap, talk to a friend, bake some cookies, visit an art gallery or antique store, or work on a creative, beautiful needlework project. I journal and sometimes simply wallow.

Do you know wallowing can be good for a short period of time?

I find it is good for me occasionally. Why? Because when I get to that point, my spirit starts to fight back and my brain finds solutions.

But usually, all I need is a little rest. While I nourish my body and soul, my brain is hard at work putting together ideas it will spring on me when the fog clears.

Does that happen to you? The mist clears, and we see everything with brilliant clarity. We have flashes of insight, find solutions that we didn't see previously, and feel more able to made decisions.

Appreciate the mist and fog in your life, for out of it comes clarity.
