Recipe Idea: The Tastes of Ayurveda by Amrita Sondhi
Hi. It's Lois in the kitchen at Recipe Idea Shop, telling you about a really good cookbook, The Tastes of Ayurveda by Amrita Sondhi. I just received this cookbook a few days ago and tried a couple of the recipes (Barley Salad with Apples and Walnuts and Olive Oil, Lemon Juice and Honey Dressing). Both are scrumptious! Besides having delicious recipes, the author gives the history of Ayurveda, helps you learn how to balance your life by eating foods that increase or decrease your Vata (air), Pitta (fire) or Kapha (earth) according to your needs, and provides good photos of various yoga poses.
I am looking forward to trying more recipes and reading the whole book, cover to cover!

Hi, I have Amrita's Tastes of Ayurveda and I can't find any contact info for her anywhere. So I am hoping you tried the recipe on page 310. She says to saute 2 tbsps of gum arabic in 1 tbsp of oil. I did that (powdered gum arabic). It simply clumped together in quite hard clumps and did not swell.
Did you try this recipe with better results with the gum Arabic? Thanks!
Lois
I’m sorry. I have not tried this particular recipe. Try contacting her through her website: amritasondhi.com
