Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a 9x13 baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
Lay the bacon slices on the pan and coat each piece with brown sugar. Rub into the bacon, flip the slices over and repeat on the other side.
Cut bacon slices into thirds.
Wrap each little smokie with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
Arrange all the wrapped smokies in a baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika.
Pour the mixture generously over the wrapped smokies.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until bacon is crispy and caramelized.
Let cool slightly before serving — syrup will be hot and sticky.
