Holiday Fruit Cocktail Salad is so simple the kids can make it, and they love it. We've been eating this since the dawn of time in our family.
Holiday Fruit Cocktail Salad can be made with two to four ingredients.
This simple salad is super easy, looks pretty and most kids will love it. Fruit cocktail, whipped cream, extra cherries, and bananas (optional). We always had this fruit salad at holiday gatherings when I was a kid. Of course, my mom used "Dream Whip" instead of whipped cream. I don't even know if you can find that anymore. There's always Cool Whip, though, for those of you who like your chemicals (like our son-in-law)!
The pictures don't really do it justice. I usually add additional maraschino cherries to make it prettier, and because the kids love them. But I didn't have any cherries this time. I sprinkled a little nutmeg on top to add to the presentation.
I prefer real Whipped Cream, plain without anything added to it. Some people like to add a little powdered sugar and vanilla to it, however. If you choose to add sugar and/or vanilla, do it at the end of the whipping process so you make sure the cream retains its fluffiness.
What You Need
For this recipe, you need a colander, a measuring cup, and a mixer. But what you really want is a beautiful little bowl to serve it in, right?
