This recipe is everyone's favorite. Who doesn't like cookies with everything chocolate and sweet in them? The Santa Trash Cookies recipe includes M&M's, white chocolate chips, toffee bits, and salty twisted pretzels, along with sugar and butter!
The best thing about trash cookies is that you can add your favorite candies or salty stuff. Sometimes I add crushed ruffled potato chips to the recipe and butterscotch or peanut butter chips.
Kitchen Sink Cookies Or Trash Cookies
PREP TIME 15minutes minutes
COOK TIME 10minutes minutes
CHILL TIME 20minutes minutes
YEILDS 16 big cookies
Ingredients
1 cup room temperature butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 room temperature eggs
2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 ¼ cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ mini M&M's
½ cup toffee bits
½ cup coarsely crushed pretzel twists
¼ cup white chocolate chip morsels
¼ cup Christmas sprinkles
Directions
1. Place the softened butter and both sugars into a large bowl or stand mixer and beat until fluffy.
2. Next, add the two eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
4. Add flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
5. Now gently stir in all of your add ins.
6. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and chill for 20 minutes.
7. Preheat oven to 350° F
8. Using a cookie scoop, scoop out your dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, keeping them about 2" apart.
9. Bake for 8-10 minutes; cookies should be golden brown. Do not overcook, or cookies will be hard.
10. Let cool on the cookie sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to a cooking rack.
Notes:
● Using two eggs makes for a chewier cookie; if you prefer a crispier cookie, use only one.
● Chilling is not required but recommended
● Careful not to overmix dough, as it will make your dough and cookies tough
● Be sure to use room temperature butter, or the dough will be hard to mix
● Using room temperature eggs helps to keep a smooth consistency
● Do not over-bake to avoid hard, crumbly cookies
● Rest assured that the pretzels will remain crispy and not become soggy
● For extra flair, press extra add-ins into the soft cookies immediately after pulling them from the oven.
● For thicker cookies, chill for an hour or more
● Unused cookie dough can be frozen, portion out each cookie on wax paper and freeze, once frozen bag them up! Will keep for 3 months.
● Store at room temperature for up to 5 days and then freeze any leftovers for up to 2 months.
● For more cookies, use a spoon to scoop smaller cookies.
Customize these cookies to your and your family's tastes. Another great combination for trash cookies or Kitchen Sink Cookies is butterscotch chips, crushed potato chips, and peanut butter morsels. Butterscotch and peanut butter flavors are yummy together.
Other Add-Ins:
● Coarsely crushed potato chips
● Peanut butter morsels
● Caramel bits
● Peanut butter M&Ms
● Chocolate Chunks
● Chopped candy bars
● Butterscotch chips
● Popcorn
● Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Everyone in my family loves these cookies. What would your Trash Cookie recipe include? As always, thanks for being here, Kathy
