We all know a Mediterranean diet is the best one for us, right? Well this Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce is so flavorful. And easy!
Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce
Hi. It's Lois at Recipe Idea Shop, with a simple Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce recipe for you. This recipe comes from my blogger friend, Claudia Hanna, who has the website Live Like a Goddess. Don and I attended one of Claudia's Mediterranean cooking classes, and it was so much fun.
Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce is a staple in any Middle Eastern or Mediterranean diet. It is a garlic-cucumber sauce used as a dip for raw vegetables and a sauce for meats and sandwiches. Don and I put it on some steamed green beans and it was amazing. Basically, you can put it on anything you would use ranch dressing for. Although Claudia doesn't suggest you put it on a salad, I think it's super on salad, like a spicy ranch dressing.
Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce is easy to make. The hardest part is finding the right cucumber. Although you can use regular, American cucumbers, they are full of water. If you use American cucumbers, be sure to remove as much moisture as you can by pouring it off and blotting it with a clean paper towel. The drier English Cucumber (it's much bigger and seedless) is a better choice. Don and I like our sauce with dill, but you could use mint if you prefer that spice.
If you have ever eaten Gyros, you have had Tzatziki Sauce. So delicious. Pita, roasted spiced lamb and beef, lettuce, tomatoes and Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce. I know you're gonna love this Mediterranean Tzatziki Sauce. I certainly do!
