Did you know a margarita is the most-ordered cocktail in the world and is often featured in movies and songs......a lot of songs?
Tequila, sour lime, sweet Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or triple sec in the right combination is cocktail perfection. Countless variations of margaritas use fresh fruits or juices, but today, we are concentrating on the classic lime on-the-rocks margarita.
The Classic On The Rocks Lime Margarita
"Shaken not stirred" is the often-mentioned phrase uttered by Sean Connery as James Bond when ordering a martini. A good Margarita should be shaken to combine the ice and all the ingredients to balance the flavor.
Also cracked ice is the best. If you don't have cracked ice then wrap ice cubes in a clean dish towel and beat them with a mallet!
Believe it or not it makes a difference. Make two margaritas, one shaken and one stirred, and let me know the results. Find the perfect margarita shaker set with everything you need to make the ideal margarita here on Amazon.
The Ultimate Margarita
Patrón Silver and Patrón Citronge give this classic margarita a smooth, delightful taste with a touch of orange. Citrónge Orange is an all-natural orange liqueur made from fresh premium oranges and blended liqueurs.
Ingredients:
3 ounces Patrón Silver
1 ounce Patrón Citronge
2 ounces lime juice
Lime slice
Salt for glass rim
Crushed Ice
Mix
1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker.
2. Shake and shake
3. Pour into a salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a slice of lime
The Cointreau Margarita
Cointreau combines 40 aromatic notes that amplify the orange flavor to a fresh but powerful intensity. I love the taste of Cointreau! Use Cointreau in place of Triple Sec. Comparing triple sec to Cointreau is like comparing........well, you can't compare the two.
Ingredients:
2 ounces Silver Tequila
1 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce Lime Juice
Salt for rimming glass
Lime for garnish
Ice
Mix
1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker.
2. Shake and shake
3. Pour into a salt-rimmed glass (use Jalapeno salt for added punch) and garnish with a slice of lime
The Grand Marnier Margarita
Grand Marnier is not triple sec. It is a combination of Cognac and bitter orange and is 80 proof, which means it has an alcohol content of 40% by volume.
Ingredients for 2-3 Margaritas:
4 ounces (1 cup) Tequila,
3 ounces Grand Marnier
3 ounces fresh lime juice
2 ounces simple syrup
Salt for rimming the glass
Lime wedge for garnish
Ice
Mix
1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker.
2. Shake and shake
3. Pour into a salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a slice of lime
*Adjust lime and simple syrup to taste
Did you know limes are a good source of antioxidants and an excellent source of Vitamin C? And Tequila is gluten-free and may aid in digestion by stimulating the digestive enzymes? Margaritas are delicious and refreshing, but remember that all alcoholic beverages should be taken in moderation.
