Cream Cheese Frosting is terrific on just about any kind of cake and especially good on Carrot Cake. The cream cheese gives it a bit of a tangy flavor and reduces the overall “sweetness” factor.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Hi. It’s Lois in the kitchen at Recipe Idea Shop. This Cream Cheese Frosting is terrific on any cake, but on My Best Carrot Cake, it is truly amazing. Simple, too. It only takes 15 minutes. It has just 5 ingredients: cream cheese, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar and a little bit of milk. The butter and cream cheese should be softened a bit for easy whipping. This frosting is so good I could eat it with a spoon. Alas! That wouldn’t be a good idea because of all the fat and sugar.
Step By Step
This recipe is a “dump, mix, and eat” recipe. Simply dump all the ingredients into a bowl. Whip it up until smooth, and spread the resulting frosting on your cake!
What You Need
A good electric mixer (either free-standing or hand-held, affiliate link) is needed to make frosting. I usually use my hand mixer because when I make frosting, it is not enough volume to fill my full size KitchenAid mixer (affiliate link) bowl so it doesn’t whip well.
