Crockpot Maple Baked Beans
Hi. It's Lois in the kitchen at Recipe Idea Shop, telling you about Crockpot Maple Baked Beans. July is National Baked Beans Month. But there's no need to heat up the kitchen to make excellent baked beans. Just use your slow cooker for the intense flavors of baked beans.
Southern Style Baked Beans
I couldn't find Momma Betty's (Don's mom's) baked beans recipe (and you know that Southern woman had a good one!) and Don's handwritten recipe didn't excite me. This recipe was inspired by Robin Robertson's version found in Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker. I found a ham bone in my freezer yesterday, so I added it to the pot.
Doesn't Need Molasses
Yowza! The Crockpot Maple Baked Beans turned out great. When Don saw what was cooking, he asked, "Did you add some molasses?" He was surprised that the recipe didn't call for molasses, but when he took a bite, he said, "Mmmmmmm. These are good!"
TOOLS FOR A WELL-EQUIPPED KITCHEN
Every kitchen should have the very best tools you can afford. At the least, buy yourself a good set of pans, a slow cooker, an Instant Pot, measuring cups and spoons, and the best set of chef's knives you can afford. Also, be sure to get a full sized food processor and a mini food processor. These tools are essential for any well-equipped kitchen!
