Don’s Famous Favorite Pecan Pie
Don here, with Don’s Famous Favorite Pecan Pie. This really is our Favorite Pecan Pie. It’s a traditional holiday dessert in many families (including ours), especially in Southern U.S.
I’m the pie maker in our family. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I’m thinking about what pies I will make this year. Lois’s favorite is definitely Pecan Pie. So I will make this one for sure, along with Crumbly Top Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie and probably Chocolate Pecan Pie.
It’s likely we will need at least one more. I’m not sure what surprise I will make this year! Come back to Recipe Idea Shop in mid-November and I’ll let you know.
In the meantime, get yourself some good 10-inch and 12-inch pie pans so you are ready for the holidays and try my Favorite Pecan Pie. You know you need a practice run on it (just because it’s so GOOD)! I know you’re gonna love this pie. Lois loves it in my Gluten Free Shortbread Pie Crust.

Don’s Famous Favorite Pecan Pie Recipe
Don's Famous Favorite Pecan Pie
In addition to the pie filling, you will need an unbaked pie crust.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Karo syrup
- 1 cup chopped pecan meats
- 2 eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add salt, well-beaten eggs, syrup and chopped nuts. Mix well.
- Bake in a raw pie crust for one hour (or until the pie is well set) at 300F degrees.
